We are pleased to announce the promotion of Jon Steingrimsson, Ph.D. to the position of Associate Professor of Biostatistics, with tenure, effective July 1, 2024. Steingrimsson joined the Department of Biostatistics in 2017. Before joining Brown, Steingrimsson was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University. He received his Ph.D. in statistics from Cornell University, a masters degree in statistics from the University of Copenhagen, and a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Iceland.
Steingrimsson’s methodological research focuses on generalizability/transportability of study results to different populations and machine learning for health. His interdisciplinary research is centered around cancer, primarily cancer imaging, and HIV. He is one of two Associate Group Statisticians of the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group and through that work he is the faculty statistician on several prospective studies.
