The Department of Biostatistics was an active participant in the StatFest conference on September 21.
Over 150 students and professionals gathered together in Columbia University (New York), School of Social Work, for a one-day conference aimed at encouraging students from historically underrepresented groups to consider careers and graduate studies in statistics, biostatistics, and data science. The StatFest program included presentations from established professionals in academia, government and industry, and current graduate students that will help attendees understand the opportunities and routes for success in the field.
NextGen Scholars and master students Diahmin Hawkins and Michael Stewart connected with prospective students, and shared what it’s like to be a biostatistics student at Brown!
