The Brown University Department of Biostatistics hosted a welcome reception on September 8, 2025, to mark the start of the 2025–26 academic year. During the event, we recognized:
- 6 incoming PhD students
- 22 returning PhD students and candidates
- 24 incoming Master’s students
- 27 returning 2nd-year Master’s students
- 23 Undergraduate Statistical Concentrators
In addition, the Department welcomed two new members of our community: Peter Lipman, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Practice of Biostatistics and Kenya Andrews Ph.D., Provost’s STEM Postdoctoral Fellow.
We also introduced Corwin Zigler, Ph.D., as the new Director of the Ph.D. Graduate Program in Biostatistics, and celebrated Zhijin (Jean) Wu, Ph.D., for her thirteen years of outstanding leadership in this role.
