The Center for Biostatistics and Health Data Science (CBHDS) recently celebrated the transition in leadership from founding director Constantine Gatsonis, Ph.D., to Rebecca Hubbard, Ph.D., Carl Kawaja and Wendy Holcombe Professor of Public Health and the Center’s new director.

After 31 years of leadership, Constantine leaves a lasting legacy of scientific excellence, methodological innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. He will remain an active member of the faculty, continuing his research and contributions to the field.

Rebecca brings internationally recognized expertise in biostatistics and health data science to her new role. Her leadership will build on CBHDS’s longstanding strengths while advancing research at the intersection of biostatistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and clinical and public health research.

The Department is grateful to Constantine for his extraordinary leadership and looks forward to the continued growth and impact of CBHDS under Rebecca’s direction.
