Phi Beta Kappa was founded on December 5, 1776, in Williamsburg, Virginia, Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious academic honors organization in the nation. Only 286 of the more than 3,500 institutions of higher learning in the United States house chapters of Phi Beta Kappa. Established in 1830, the Brown chapter is the seventh oldest, after William and Mary (1776), Yale (1780), Harvard (1781), Dartmouth (1787), Union (1817) and Bowdoin (1825).
Kun graduated in 2022 and is now a Prager Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics at Brown University.
