Biostatistics PhD student, Sarah Voter, has received the Young Investigator Award (YIA) for her poster presentation at the International Workshop on HIV and Hepatitis Observational Databases (IWHOD) in Athens, Greece this past March. Sarah was accompanied by her advisor, Professor Joseph Hogan to present ongoing work in collaboration with Dr. Rami Kantor and Allison DeLong. The project, titled, “Semiparametric regression with variable selection for assessing genotype-phenotype discordance in HIV drug resistance” may facilitate better prediction of phenotype using genotype mutation information, thus reducing genotype-phenotype discordance and improving drug resistance prediction for settings where phenotyping is not accessible.
