Jon Steingrimsson, Ph.D. Brown University Assistant Professor of Biostatistics, was named Associate Group Statistician in the Biostatistics and Data Management Center of the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group. ECOG-ACRIN is an NCI funded collaborative cancer research group that focuses on design and conduct of clinical trials through a network of over 1200 cancer centers and hospitals and it is a part of both the National Clinical Trials Network and the NCI Community Oncology Research Program. The Center for Statistical Sciences at Brown has been an integral part of ECOG-ACRIN since the formation of the group and shares the operation of the group’s Biostatistics Center with colleagues at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard. Since joining the department and the ECOG-ACRIN Brown Office of the Biostatistics Center in 2017, Steingrimsson has been an active contributor to ECOG-ACRIN's research activities, primarily by providing statistical leadership on studies of screening, diagnosis, and prediction. He is an active contributor to ECOG-ACRINs radiomic research efforts and machine learning analysis of imaging data and is also involved in the design and analysis of studies of social determinants of health and disparities in health care and outcomes.
