We are pleased to announce the promotion of Roee Gutman, Ph.D. to the position of Professor of Biostatistics, with tenure, effective July 1, 2024. Gutman joined the Department of Biostatistics in 2011. He received his Ph.D. and Master’s in statistics from Harvard University, as well as a Master of Science in applied statistics and a Bachelors of Science in Statistics and Computer Science from Tel Aviv University.
Gutman’s research focuses on causal inferences in observational and randomized studies, record linkage in the absence of unique identifiers, equating patient reported outcomes (PROs) across surveys and respondents, and their application to epidemiological studies and to health services research and policy. To support his research, Roee secured grant support from the Patient Centered Outcome Research Institute (PCORI), the NSF, and the NIH. He has also been the lead statistician on multiple NIH R01, P01 and R61/R33 grants and VA awards. Lastly, he received an ASA/NSF/BLS Senior Research Fellowship to work on record linkage applications within the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In his free time, Roee enjoys playing basketball and volleyball as well as spending quality moments with his family.
